What is ISO/IEC 17025?

The term IEC stands for International Electrotechnical Commission which in cooperation with ISO creates the specific system for global standardization. ISO/IEC 17025 is an international standard for testing and calibration laboratories. It was established with the aim of offering quality and improving the processes within laboratories.  ISO/IEC 17025 has two key clauses; Management Requirements which are associated with the performance and efficiency of the Quality Management System inside the laboratory, and Technical Requirements which focus on the competencies of employees, testing methodology, equipment, and the test and calibration results.

The “PECB Certified ISO/IEC 17025 Lead Implementer” exam fully meets the requirements of the PECB Examination and Certification Programme (ECP). The exam covers the following competency domains:

 

Domain 1: Fundamental principles and concepts of a Laboratory Management System (LMS)

Domain 2: Laboratory Management System (LMS)

Domain 3: Planning a LMS based on ISO/IEC 17025

Domain 4: Implementing a management system based on ISO/IEC 17025

Domain 5: Performance evaluation, monitoring and measurement of a LMS based on ISO/IEC 17025

Domain 6: Continual improvement of a LMS based on ISO/IEC 17025

Domain 7: Preparing for an accreditation

Certification

 

After successfully completing the exam, you can apply for the credentials shown on the table below. You will receive a certificate once you comply with all the requirements related to the selected credential.
