AI & digital transformation

ISO/IEC 42001 is the first certifiable management system for artificial intelligence, and it arrived at the moment organizations started deploying AI faster than they could govern it. This is the family that closes that gap.

ISO/IEC 42001 · AI risk · transformation PECB-accredited, internationally recognized New cohorts every month
Standards in this family

Governing a technology that changes under you

Traditional management systems assume the thing you're controlling stays roughly the same between audits. AI doesn't. ISO/IEC 42001 and the AI risk credentials are built around continuous evaluation rather than annual review.

AI management systems

The certifiable management system for organizations building or deploying AI.

AI risk

Identifying and treating the risks specific to AI systems — bias, drift, explainability, misuse.

Digital transformation

Leading change programmes where the technology is only half the problem.

Choosing a path

New standard, familiar structure

If you've implemented ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 42001 will feel familiar — same Annex SL structure, same clause numbering, same certification route. What's new is the content of the controls: impact assessment on people, data governance for training sets, and lifecycle evaluation.

  • Certifiable, not advisoryISO/IEC 42001 is a full management-system standard with an accredited certification route
  • Early-mover advantageFew organizations hold it yet, which is precisely why it differentiates in procurement
  • Regulation is arrivingThe EU AI Act and similar regimes push organizations toward exactly this kind of documented governance
  • Sits on top of 27001If you already run an ISMS, the incremental effort is far smaller than starting fresh
How the levels work

Foundation to Lead — pick the one that matches the job

Not every standard offers every level, but where they exist the ladder is consistent. Choose by the work you'll do, not by which title sounds most senior.

Level 1 Foundation The vocabulary and structure of the standard. Two days. The right entry point if the subject is new to you.
Level 2 Manager Running an existing system day to day — operating controls, maintaining evidence, handling reviews.
Level 3 Lead Implementer Designing and building the management system from scratch, including scope, risk treatment and rollout.
Level 3 Lead Auditor Assessing someone else's system against the standard — internally, as a consultant, or for a certification body.
Delivery formats

Three ways to take any course

Same accreditation, same exam, same certificate. The difference is how much structure and instructor access you want along the way.

Self-study

Course materials and exam voucher, worked at your own pace. The lowest-cost route, and a reasonable one if you already work in the subject.

eLearning

Recorded instruction with structured modules and assessments. Fits around a working week without needing fixed dates.

Live online

Scheduled cohorts with a practising instructor you can question in real time. The format most people pass first time with.

Common questions

Before you enrol

Yes, and arguably more so. The standard explicitly covers organizations that deploy or use AI systems, not just developers. Most of the risk in a typical company sits in procured tools nobody has assessed rather than in models they trained themselves.

For Foundation and Lead Implementer, no — it's a governance standard and the content is management-system work. Some familiarity with how models are trained and evaluated helps you ask better questions, but you won't be writing code.

They're separate — one is a voluntary standard, the other is binding law. But the governance, documentation and risk-assessment practices ISO/IEC 42001 requires map closely onto what the Act expects, which is why many organizations use it as their implementation vehicle.

It's a PECB scheme we list because it appears in the family, but scheduled dates and pricing aren't published yet. Contact us and we'll tell you the current position rather than guessing.

Governing AI before someone asks you to prove it

Whether you're deploying purchased models or building your own, tell us where you are. We'll say whether 42001 is the right first move or whether AI risk management gets you further, faster.
